Is this thing on?

Mark BrownThis first entry is basically a test entry since I am not much of a blogger and my children aren't here to advise me how to do this.

Dr. Sassaman has asked me annually for ten years to serve on this mission and I guess I finally ran out of scheduling conflicts and excuses.  Brief background: 50-something, single MPK (Methodist preacher's kid) with two wonderful adult children married to their ideal matches, and two rescue australian shepherds (in the home); environmental geologist; recovering workaholic; grew up in WNC parsonages; proud graduate of Appalachian State (even before football championships); (sounds like a MySpace ad); historically was immersed in all UMC committees and activities but currently attend church periodically. Maybe this is the moment to "return to the fold"?

My parents and children have enjoyed mission trips over the years and encouraged and supported me in going on this one  I am very excited about this mission opportunity and look forward to meeting everyone; please keep us in your prayers.

 Mark
